Why is nandI hills tea special?

From the foothills of Mount Kenya comes a new purple tea leaf that is grown at high elevation. Produced near the equator at more than 7,000 feet (2200m), the western Nandi Hills region of Kenya provides a unique locale to cultivate healthy high mountain tea.

A new Purple Tea

A new tea cultivar has been established on the African continent.  Unique to Kenya, this ‘purple’ tea hybrid grows in rich volcanic soil, high sun, and low oxygen at high elevation.  

This unique setting produces a tea leaf dense in antioxidants, including the natural tea catechins found in green tea and the first tea with a healthy ‘purple’ polyphenol, anthocyanin. 

Working with local farms, our teas are hand-plucked and carefully steeped with spring water to preserve & enhance the natural benefits that distinguish our ready-to-drink high mountain teas.
